Grundsund a hidden gem...

Far out in the Bohuslän archipelago lies Grundsund on the island of Skaftö - a well-preserved still active fishing village with a lot of charm. Here, boathouses and small houses are crowded along the cliffs, around the quay and in the harbor channel. The channel bridge in Grundsund is one of western Sweden's most popular places to photograph from. The bridge is only a few meters from our hotel.

Hike or Bike

Skaftö offer a number of scenic trails. The barren rocks of the coast intermingled with inland which offers meadows, small farms, cows and sheep. Adjacent to the trails are many of the island's bathing areas, here are benches to sit down and rest and enjoy the view. You'll also find barbecue areas adjacent to some of the hiking trails.​

A swim in the ocean

Out in the archipelago of Skaftö, we think salt water is the best there is. Here you will find sand, rocks, bathing ladders, shallow, protected, child-friendly, but above all wonderful, wet and refreshing salt water. All within a comfortable walk of our hotel.

Guided tours

Skaftö is an absolut gem in the middle of Bohuslän, which in turn has been named the world's seventh most beautiful wilderness area (according to CNN.s ranking list). Meet nature, people, present and cultural history on foot, by bicycle or from the sea together with a licensed guide. Scheduled group tours as well as individual are availble.

Boat trips

During the summer season from June to August several organizers offer scheduled boat trips to various destinations in the archipelago. You can also book a boat trip for just you and your family with a licensed guide.

Fishing trips

Grab the chance to experience genuine fishing on a day out at sea together with a local fisherman.
Trips are mainly during spring for small and larger groups and you'll discover how langoustine fishing with traps is done.
The lobster season starts in autumn for small and large groups. During the trip you'll discover how lobster fishing with traps is done. You can buy your share of the catch once in harbour but pre-order if you want to be safe.

Sail a schooner

Join us on a day at sea, sailing with schooner T/S Kvartsita, the pride of Skaftö. You get a taste of life at sea and get to experience Bohuslän's unique archipelago.
You are welcome to help on board: raise the sails, navigate, steer or just enjoy the sailing.​
Everyone is welcome, children from 2 years accompanied by an adult and with their own life jacket. 12 years applies to children unaccompanied by an adult.​
The sailing usually lasts between 10:00 and around 16:00, a light lunch and coffee are included in the price.​

Kayaking

Experience the Bohuslän archipelago in all its majesty in the best way possible. Balanspunkten in Grundsund offer a fleet of high-quality kayaks to rent suitable to both the novice and more experienced paddler. The staff at Balanspunkten love to paddle kayak and can help you with suggestions for your trip.

Golf

The island of Skaftö offer a choice of two golf courses: a casual 9-hole Pay & Play, Näreby GC and a destination 18-hole course, Skaftö GC (host to Ladies European Tour) for more experienced golfers (reservations required).​

The Marina

WELL STOCKED MARINA SHOP AND BOAT RENTAL
The Marina, is a 10-minute walk from the hotel. The marina offer a well-stocked shop which, in addition to boat accessories, also offers gift items and clothes from well-known brands. Here you can also rent a SUP or smaller boats from spring to autumn. 

ON THE PIER CAFÉ - "SOMMARDEPÅN"
Strategically located at the sea entrance to the marina is Grundsund's only CAFÉ - "Sommardepån", where in addition to your tea or coffee, you can also find a selection of both designer clothes and items for the home.

WOOD-FIERED SAUNA
On the pier you will also find the marina's wood-fired sauna which you can rent privately for your party or join to the open public sauna on Thursdays for a small fee.

Oyster & Mussel tour

Oyster and mussel tour with a scent of seaweed and freshly cooked mussels.
The Oyster and Mussel Tour departs from Norra Hamnen (the North Harbour) in Lysekil. We travel on Signe, our wooden boat from 1956, to the mussel farm where we show you how mussels are grown and harvested. 
Signe then takes us to our oyster bed where we pick oysters and learn more about this delicacy. At a very special and unique place in Bohuslän, we talk about everything connected to oysters, and offer the opportunity to try them.
We stop off at Käringeholmen, where we serve cooked mussels, and enjoy them by the shore. After an unforgettable experience in an amazing environment, we take you back to Lysekil, accompanied by the relaxing sound of Signe’s engine.
